And now for a brief interruption in the series I’ve been writing about making our own shirts.Tomorrow I’ll be speaking at TEDxYouth@Buffalo. Lifted from their site, “TEDxYouth@Buffalo brings together innovators, explorers and teachers and seeks to illuminate, inspire and activate them to encourage conversation, collaboration and action.” I’m really honored that they asked me to speak and to be speaking with the other great speakers.
My talk is titled “It’s not win or lose, it’s win or learn.” It’ll be recorded and I’ll post the video as soon as I can.
I have to admit – I’m a little nervous. Not really about speaking in front of a lot of people, it’s more that I’ve been so busy lately that I’m worried I haven’t prepared enough.
The VIP party was tonight and it was hosted at the Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology. Stacey Watson is the Director of Programs there, she’s a friend, and she spoke at the first TEDxBuffalo in 2011. (Here’s her talk) So I asked her for some advice. The thing she said that helped the most is to be myself. She reminded me that I’m living my story . To just talk about it, to relax. The other thing she told me is that she listens to Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” before she speaks. I think I’ll do the same.
